The Thakur College of Engineering & Technology (TCET), a linguistic minority institute was established in AY 2001-02 with a clear objective of providing quality technical education in tune with international standards and contemporary global requirements. TCET is recognized by AICTE & Govt. of Maharashtra and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. TCET offers 6 UG, 3 PG and 3 Ph.D. (Tech.) programme. TCET is accredited by NAAC with W grade for five years.Four UG programmes which include Electronics & Telecommunication (EXTC), Information Technology (IT), Computer Engineering (CMPN) and Electronics Engineering (ETRX) have been provisionally accredited by NBA for three years and are also given permanent affiliation by University of Mumbai.
TCET is ISO 9001:2015 certified institute. TCET is recipient of reputed IMC – Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Commendation Certification 2012(Education) followed by IMC – Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award 2015 (Education). In July 2016 TCET has been selected for Asia Pacific Quality Award (APQA) for best in class award in education category from Global Pacific Quality Award (GPQA). TCET has been awarded in the category of “Excellent Performing & Innovative Engineering Institute in Maharashtra” at National Maharashtra Education Summit & Awards 2016, jointly organized by University of Mumbai & CMAI Association of India. TCET is a member of National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Maharashtra Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) for active industry-institute interaction where TCET has been felicitated by CII-Education Excellence Forum for enhancing Industry Connect, Employability and Faculty Competency.
India is a “young” nation where 65% of the population is below the age of 35 and produces the second highest number of engineering graduates in the world. In this “knowledge driven age”, education provide every student gainful employment, and the nation the potential of a super power. However, this is possible only when research culture is inculcated and design based engineering education is imparted to students to prepare them for the future which is currently characterized by disruption, be it technology, communication, climate change, economic and political upheavals.
Thus, engineering and technology education needs an evolutionary change to be compatible with the requirements of the 21st century education and research and meet the needs of the various stakeholders, especially industry and society.
Several behaviours such as an innovation mindset, agility, societal responsibility and systems based thinking need to be embedded in the teaching learning practices to bring about transformation. To ensure that this requirement is communicated to learners everywhere, TCET initiated organizing of Conferences and Workshops (CAW). Being a self-financed institution, TCET is always at the forefront and incorporates active research as an integral part of engineering education to bring transformational changes in the education sector.
CAW at TCET is organized as a yearly event from 2010 where the first edition “International Conference and Workshop on Emerging Technologies” (ICWET) was organized and continued till 2012. The Second edition Multicon-W began in 2013 and is a platform for multiple conferences and workshops. Till date under the banner of ICWET and Multicon-W more than 50 conferences, over 250 tracks and 4000 papers have been presented and published in the Proceedings with ISBN numbers. Over 2000 of these papers are published in Scopus and UGC approved journals. Many of these papers are also available in the world’s leading digital libraries viz. ACM, IET, IEEE, Springer etc. There are more than 100,000 downloads for these papers. As far as the workshop is concerned, more than 100 tracks of IOTW for students from other institutes and 60 tracks for in-house students are conducted.
Considering the consistent success of the event, Multicon-W 2020, the eleventh event in a row will be organized on 28-29 February 2020. The event will comprise of four conferences and three workshops with multiple tracks. Around 5000 participants and delegates are expected to attend the two day programme. While, till date conferences at TCET focused on research papers based on original research work, through the current conferences we will diversify the scope to include papers based on experiential learning and organizational & professional practices.
In the conference one can present Research Papers, Technical Papers, Case Studies, Best and Innovative Practices, Engineering Concepts & Designs. Depending upon the novelty and quality of the content, the papers will be published in the Multi con Proceedings and Conference Proceedings with an ISBN number. Multicon-W
